Work and Employment Research Centre

The Work and Employment Research Centre (WERC) has internationally recognised expertise in the following areas (i) organization studies (ii) leadership (iii) knowledge (iv) change and (v) Strategic Human Resource Management (SHRM). The Centre provides strong links between practitioners and academics, and between research activities and teaching at both postgraduate and undergraduate levels.

Its mission is to demonstrate the value of rigorous, well-founded research to practitioners; to diffuse research insights in a way that is helpful to practitioners and researchers alike; to encourage applied research on issues of central importance; and to seek to develop the resources required to maintain a critical mass of researchers and research students.

The Centre is directed by Dr Juani Swart and currently has members drawn from the full-time academic staff of the School of Management

A staff-student seminar series is run each year. It appoints a Visiting Fellow drawn from among senior policy makers, and provides opportunities for a select number of international scholars to work in the Centre for a few months at a time.
