Waste management - A-Z index of wastes - Waste segregation route

IMPORTANT.

Information on this page relates solely to wastes generated by the University of Bath at Claverton Down campus or in Bath.
The University cannot accept wastes from outside the University.

If you are producing hazardous waste then a risk assessment of the work activity generating such waste must have been completed within your Department or Centre.
If you are unsure about the correct method of disposal for any waste stream then please contact the Waste Team.

The Waste Team comprises members of the Estates Department (non-hazardous wastes) and the Safety, Health & Environment Unit (hazardous waste).

In the table below;

è

indicates that a decontamination procedure may be necessary in the laboratory or workshop before placing articles into the segregated waste streams (for example rinsing/neutralising chemicals or autoclaving/inactivating biological material).

'Red label' bins

are those waste bins in laboratories and workshops which are emptied by the porters.
