Research

The Department for Health aims to produce high-quality research with a strongly applied focus. We aim to contribute to promoting the health of the population and to improving the quality and efficiency of the health services that people rely on. We pursue this agenda with a variety of partners at local, regional, national and international levels.

Our work is organised around two main themes:

1. Sport, Health & Exercise Science

2. Lifelong Health & Wellbeing

The quality of our work is evaluated in terms of the Research Assessment Exercise - RAE 2008 through the contributions made to three distinct units of assessment: pharmacy & pharmacology; social policy; and, sport, health & exercise science.
