Alumni and Friends

Students in the new Student Centre

For students

As a Bath student you’ll be pleased to know that our alumni and friends can help you to make the most of your time at university and beyond.

Why ‘alumni’?

‘Alumni’ comes from Latin ‘alere’ which means ‘to nourish’. Once you graduate you automatically become a University of Bath alumnus (male) or alumna (female). Our alumni live all over the world – and most of them are still in contact with us in some way.

How alumni can help you

Our alumni have gone on to do brilliant things – from CEO of Sainsbury’s to an Olympic gold medal-winner! Alumni contribute to University life in many different ways.

Without grants from the Alumni Fund, students wouldn't be able to enjoy the many extracurricular activities and opportunities which make studying at Bath so special.

Alumni are also a great source of advice. Many of our alumni have joined the Careers Advisory Service Graduate Contact List, which means you can draw on their experience when you come to planning your career. Increasingly alumni offer work placements to students too.

You'll bump into our alumni on campus regularly as they love to find out what students are getting up to. From a URB reunion for all former and current URB members to students versus alumni sports matches, many of our graduates actively maintain their link to Bath.
