FAQs
Q: I was stopped from logging in by the following message: ERROR: WordPress requires Cookies but your browser does not support them or they are blocked. I didn’t have this problem last time I logged in. I wonder if it’s at my end or has anyone else made the same comment?
A: Unfortunately a few people have reported the same. I have tried to alter my browser settings on Internet Explorer 6.0 and 7.0 but this has not helped. I am now accessing the site via Mozilla Firefox which can be downloaded for free (google it) and used as an alternative browser.
Q: You’re inviting me to add articles but I can’t do more than comment, how do I become a fully fledged contributor?
A: Although lowcarbonworks.org.uk is open to anyone to join, there are four levels of membership:
Subscribers
New members are automatically given subscriber status.
Subscribers can read posts and create and update their profile.
When subscribers login they go straight to their profile. From here they can go to the site via the viewsite link.
Contributors
Shortly after joining lowcarbonworks.org.uk you may be promoted to contributor status. You will receive an email informing you of your promotion.
Contributors can write, edit and submit posts for publication and comment on published posts. When contributors log in they will be able to click on a link to an edit window where they can write a post and submit it for review.
Authors
When you are ready to participate more fully in the lcw community, you could become an author. This would allow you to publish your own posts straight to the site. When authors login they will find a publish button at the bottom of their edit window. Authors can also upload files and photographs. A guide to editing and publishing will be available soon.
Editors
Editors can edit and publish their own and other people’s posts. This level of membership is for particular project groups on request.
Q: Even though, I’m an author, when I publish my article it does not appear anywhere on site, what next?
A: Did you remember to tick a box in the list of categories on the rhs of the write screen ? This “tells” the post which site section to appear in. If you did not tick a category box it will automatically go into a box marked uncategorized and won’t appear on the live site!
